What We Do

Bicycle Safety Rodeo

In May/June of each year, we host an annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo in conjunction with the Weymouth Police Department and Tufts Library. We give out FREE bicycle helmets to kids who attend, properly fitted to their head. We also have a bike shop on site to provide free safety inspections and an obstacle course for kids to practice the rules of the road.

Want to help? We are looking for volunteers, donors, and community partners to help make this event a success!

A Simple Gesture (supporting Weymouth Food Pantry)

In 2022, we launched a community-wide effort to support the Weymouth Food Pantry. Each month, we deliver reusable grocery bags with a wish list of items needed at the food pantry to more than 90 families around Weymouth. Throughout the month, as they go grocery shopping, they pick up a couple items on the list and put them in the bag. On a designated Sunday each month, Kiwanis volunteers pick up the bags off participants’ porches and drop off a new bag with a new wish list for the following month. This program ensures that the Weymouth Food Pantry has a regular supply of items they need to support our neighbors throughout the year.

Keep Weymouth Beautiful

We partner with Keep Weymouth Beautiful to organize community clean-up events around Weymouth. These are great, family-friendly opportunities to give back for a couple hours on a weekend day and help make our community cleaner and safer. Our events are also approved as service hours with Weymouth High School! Check back in the spring for a calendar of monthly community clean-ups.

Key Club and other Service Leadership Programs

We are going to explore bringing Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs to schools in Weymouth over the next couple school years. Kiwanis clubs sponsor Key Clubs in high schools, Builders Clubs in middle schools, and K-Kids clubs in elementary schools. These extra-curricular activities not only teach kids the value of service, they also empower them to grow their leadership skills.

Currently, we sponsor a Key Club at North Quincy High School, which was started in September 2022 by a group of highly enthusiastic students!

Interested in starting a Key Club, Builders Club, K-Kids Club, or Circle K Club on the South Shore? We would love to support you!
